New for this season Volcom is introducing far-infrared (FIR) fabric technology to our flagship outerwear jacket, the TDS® GORE-TEX® jacket, setting a new standard in insulated performance outerwear.
Short for "Thermal Defense System", the TDS® INF GORE-TEX® jacketis built to perform in the most demanding alpine environments. By introducing FIR technology to the strategically placed thermal panels on the inside of the jacket, whose GORE-TEX® fabric shell utilizes GORE® C-KNIT™ backer technology, the TDS® is now warmer and lighter than ever.
Constructed using a carbon yarn based far-infrared fabric, the 3-layer lining system allows the body to heat and warm itself using its own far-infrared waves to prevent heat loss. Achieved through use of infrared panels that absorb, store and re-emit the body’s natural heat emissions, while venting excess heat once the fabric's storage capacity is full.
With the placement of the infrared panels filled with 80/20 down around the body's core, the most critical parts of the body are continually warmed, while areas prone to overheating and require greater breathability are left unlined with key placement of zippered vents for maximum thermal comfort.
By designing the perfect layering and thermal regulating system directly into the jacket, we've eliminated the need for a 2nd layer. Just put on a proper 1st/base layer, like the TDS® Base Layer Crew, and go on your way.
We continue to improve our systems to keep all your systems go. This season we’ve our Thermal Defense System styles include infrared thermal panels that use your own body heat to keep you warm. Plus the 3-layer C-KNIT GORE-TEX® fabric offers maximum protection in a more flexible design. The TDS Infrared GORE-TEX® Jacket is packed with other upgrades like fully taped seams to keep wind and water out, a droptail fit for coverage at the back and Face Tech™ to protect your skin up front.
